Tattos

Researching tattoos is an amazing study. It actually dates back to Neolithic times. The modern use of tattoos like tattoo suggestions is a perfect example of the evolution of the art. Mummies like Amunet were found with tattoos adorning thier bodies. Pre-Christian and some northern European tribes often wore a multitude of these all over their bodies. Even Julius Caesar described soldiers in the Gallic Wars wearing bright blue colorful markings on thier skin.
The Japanese trace their tattoo origins back over 10,000 years. It was the European sailors that brought them into the Western Hemisphere.

Often used as rites of passage, status, marks of fertility and pledges of love, tattoos were often used as religious symbols of devotion.

Although todays tattoos have similar uses, they can often be cosmetic or have some magical reasons behind them.

Tattoos have also been applied on people forcefully as means of identification like the Nazi's used on people in World War Two concentration camps.

Branding of animals and even darkening pets noses for preventing sunburn is not uncommon.
There has been a resurgence of popularity all over the world in recent years, bringing on a beavy of taleneted artists that apply their creativity and fine arts training.
There have been many studies about the recent application of tattoos. As recently as 2006 it was determined that 36% of the American population between the ages of 18 and 29 , have some type of tattoo.
